SKE48's single sales have increased each time and they've been producing and appearing in more and more TV programs and magazine spreads. My personal interest in them has skyrocketed. It has been a couple of years since their debut, but they are still new to the game so I wanted to do a monster post: single rankings, senbatsu profiles, senbatsu ranking, Team S third stage review, first impression of Team E, and more! Basically I am going to take this time to become more familiar with them, and I am providing the option for my readers. (The reason why I am smashing them all together: S3 has been out for a while so it is not new, they only have a handful of singles, they just added a ton of members so I am not that familiar with them all, and I don't want to spam a whole bunch of posts.)

Team E's 1st Stage Pajama Drive (B3) - First Impression:
I am not going to review it at the moment because all I can find is low quality video of their performances. I've also seen Team B's third stage. Probably once they release an original stage I'll review that. I was thrilled to hear that their first stage would be B3 because it is one of my favorites. The overall sound and performance of the stage was well done. It was hard for the girls to stand out considering the poor quality during the group performances. Chibi Airi is soooo cute! (No I will not stop calling her chibi airi. . . maybe I'll start calling her nono and not cause she reminds me of Tsuji Nozomi.) She definitely stood out as my favorite in the first line of the intro MC. The rest of them are also pretty cute. I think the last line had the most stand outs to me, but nothing on the level of Miorin. The tales in the first unit are much too long. The third unit sounds auto-tuned during parts of the performance. It is not uncommon for the first couple of stage performances to be lip-synced as they get used to it. I feel it lacks the vocal power the original AKB unit had. (Warning the following ranking is biased towards my favorite songs.)
Ranking of the units:
1. Kagami no Naka no Jean D'arc (鏡の中のジャンヌ・ダ・アルク) (Kobayashi Ami, Sakai Mei, Umemoto Madoka, Takeuchi Mai, Yamada Erika)
2. Tenshi no Shippo (天使のしっぽ) (Ueno Kasumi, Kimoto Kanon, Shibata Aya)
3. Junjou Shugi (純情主義)(Takagi Yumana, Hara Minami, Ishohara Kyoka)
4. Temodemo no Namida (てもでもの涙) (Kaneko Shiori, Nakamura Yuka)
5. Pajama Drive (パジャマドライブ) (Mano Haruka, Tsuzuki Rika, Yamashita Yukari)
Considering this is their first performance of their first stage I thought they did a good job. They'll come into their own once they do their second stage, hopefully also an original stage because it will be tailored to them.
Team S 3rd Stage - Seifuku no Me Review:
I've seen songs from this stage performed in their concerts (I posted both of those concerts above and I suggest you watch them). I've also listened to the audio CD of this stage a couple of times. Hopefully I can watch this stage the whole way through without wanting to punch Jurina square in the face (she does a good job but she irks me.)
Koi wo Kataru Shijin ni Narenakute
Is their theatre usually not well lighted on the sides? While I do think the coats are flattering and go with a schoolgirl image, if you consider the back is black, I don't think it is the best choice. Dark on black, wouldn't it make them a bit hard to see in the audience? I like the frolic away moves (ballerina, ballerina, jellyfish, jellyfish). I enjoy their choreography. It isn't anything technically difficult, but it requires some energy and it is only the opening number. Oh, and I really like the song.
Goukaku Kiss
I love the combination of idols and glasses and all, but is there a reason. Wait. . . they don't need a reason! At certain parts in this song it reminds me of something from Hello Project. I like the song and they are being adorable, but it is still a bit on the dull side. I want to watch what is happening in the back; it looks like they are doing something fun back there. One of the girls who has really high cheekbones, doesn't look that flattering at the moment. I think she did a shuffle of Jurina's unit for this stage in a concert and she had curly hair then. I might have made a mistake, but I thought she looked amazing then.
Antenna
Another high energy number. No, not in a bad way. I like it when they are genki. The chorus is a bit. . . Miss I whip my hair (or is it head) back and forth made some extremely cute expressions just a moment ago. I keep on getting tempted to put her and Ricky above Rena as my favorites. Lose points for using 'la's in the lyrics.
Seifuku no Me
STRIPPING! Things seemed a bit rushed, they run backstage to chug some coffee. Maybe points for spelling things. I only give bonus points if they spell something hard. . . like definitely (people spell it wrong quite a bit). Especially, considering it would be a foreign word. Where is this coming from? I have no idea. (Wow are these girls older than I thought they were!)
Omoide Ijou (Matsui J, Hiramatsu, Yamashita)
Minus points for Jurina. I began loving this unit when I watched the shuffle. This would be an amazing unit if it just wasn't Jurina! She scares me. . . like Matsujun. . . well not in the same way.
Okami to Pride (Mori, Yagami)
No bananas? This is cute and all, but it just doesn't hit the spot. It is done well, maybe it is the song.
Onna no Ko no Dairokukan (Oya, Kuwabara, Takada, Shinkai, Wakabayashi)
Is this from an old TV show opening? (Why do I keep asking rhetorical questions? I guess I am in that mood. . . whatever that kind of mood would be called.) Sorry for the tangent. Loved it!
Kareha no Station (Matsui R)
RENA STOP BEING A BUZZ KILL! Odd placement for a ballad don't you thin. . . sorry. Not much of a review, more like a commentary. The song is lovely. The performance is simple and beautiful. Rena is an angel sent down from NPH in heaven. (Bonus points to you if you understood that joke.)
Mangekyou (Ono, Nakanishi, Hirata, Deguchi, Matsushita)
Lovely. . . there isn't much to say about it. I guess it wasn't amazing because I don't have much to say about it.
Jealousy no Alibi
I adore these costumes! However, for this kind of song. . . Now I am doing the . . . thing. Sorry. Your head banging doesn't help me. I love high tension numbers. I don't like how Matsui just appears in every other shot. It is probably because I've seen most of these performed in concert. I promise I'll be better once a new stage is released in high quality.
Doubt
Mood swings much. I appreciate the energetic dancing for this plain song, but I don't think it matches either. I am impressed with Team S. Uh oh, most of senbatsu is Team S. I foresee a team shuffle in their future.
Nakama no Uta
This would be an amazing last song, but it isn't! Notice that the paper things are shaped like hearts.
Mizu no Nai Pool
I wish they would mess with each other because at times it looks a bit awkward. Shut up demon spawn. Wash that table.
Rakuen no Kaidan
Favorite number yet! There are some boss hats in this set.
Pinocchio Gun
I loved this coupling track, possibly even more than the main song. I'm glad that they perform it often. It is a great song. But I bet the trainees felt gipped from performing it themselves in concerts.
Tegami no Koto
Waaa, pretty.
Favorite Song/ Performance from Each Set:
Group Set 1: Koi wo Kataru Shijin ni Narenakute
Units: Onna no Ko no Dairokukan
